Hi, my name is Julie, and I worry about the environment - climate change in particular, but also the problems caused by the way we take nature for granted. A while ago I decided it was time to take action instead of fretting by myself.
Since Ghandi said “You must be the change you wish to see in the world”, I started looking for information on how to live sustainably. Lots of it only applied to the US or the UK, and although the Aussie resources were out there they were often hard to find. I spent ages searching for Aussie info, and when I was done I had a long list of links.
I figured I couldn’t be the only one looking for this stuff, so I put it all up on a website for people to refer to if they wanted: Go Greener, Australia. It’s a collection of links to information about the basics of living greenly in Australia. You can use it as a jumping-off point for learning more about how to make choices that are good for the environment as you go about your everyday life.
I kept finding more links, so I started a del.icio.us account to keep track of them all: my username there is go_greener_oz, and you can see all my links and send more to me if you like. But a list of links can only go so far - I want real discussion, and I think other people do too. I’m not an expert, but I’m curious, and willing to learn.
So I’m blogging about the environment, focusing on Australia: issues, solutions, what I’m doing in my own house to make it greener. I’ll point out any good green resources I find, like books or movies or podcasts. I hope you’ll leave comments with your experiences and ideas, or at least say hi
